If you're going to be Chicago for the fourth of July holiday, we've rounded up our top three things to do to celebrate our country's independence. Fireworks at Navy Pier: Thursday July 4 at 9:30 PM. The pier can reach capacity, so we suggest heading over earlier in the afternoon. You can pick up a FREE trolley to Navy Pier just two blocks away from the hotel at the corner of State and Grand. This is a free event, but there is plenty of food and attractions also available on Navy Pier that do have fees. Grant Park Music Festival: Independence Day Salute: Thursday July 4 from 6:30-8:30PM in Millennium Park. This is a Grant Park Music Festival tradition offering rousing marches and patriotic anthems. Picnic in a park. Dig into your picnic basket beside a tranquil, hidden lily pond or dine upon a blanket while enjoying the skyline. There are just so many prime picnicking spots in Chicago. Take your pick, here are our favorites: The Lurie Garden in Millennium Park, E Monroe St., Oz Park, 2021 N Burling St. or the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, 125 W Fullerton Parkway.
